Housing deficit - the right to a home

by Luiz Fernando do Valle

Man has been on our planet for thousands of years and has always needed to shelter from weather.  At first, shelter was sought under trees or in caves, later in rudimentary constructions, tents, shacks, houses, castles, palaces, buildings and so many different dwellings that addressed various needs.  See entire post

Racism, the dark side of our collective consciousness

by Luiz Fernando do Valle

We are living one of the most difficult moments in recent human history.  We have learned much in the last seven thousand five hundred years since the inception of the first signs of civilization in our society.

Man has roamed this planet for thousands of years, but only recently has he developed the ability to socialize in communities. Communities became city-states, then kingdoms, empires and finally republics.  See entire post

Food, in a world that is ashamed and hungry

by Luiz Fernando do Valle

Of all our afflictions, hunger is the most offensive to our collective consciousness.  We know that much could be done to prevent the images that confront us around the corner from our homes, or to eradicate the images we see from African countries where people literally starve to death.

These situations came about because of the unwillingness of governments and societies to find a solution to this savagery that resembles the holocaust when taken into the context of a continent like Africa.  See entire post

Alternative or renewable energy, sustainable solution

by Luiz Fernando do Valle

Due to the energy crisis and the global warming problem there is a need to find new sources of energy that may minimize the serious problems that stem from this situation.

One of the ways to solve the problem of global warming is to review a large portion of the energy matrix used by man until now.  That led to the development of alternative or renewable energy sources that are derived from virtually inexhaustible natural sources, some due to their great energy potential and others due to their natural regenerative abilities. Is your neighborhood sustainable?

by Luiz Fernando do Valle

Have you stopped to wonder if your neighborhood is sustainable?  As you answer this question you will be evaluating the place you live and thinking about important points that must weigh on your decision.

Public unsafety

Public transportation, our daily torment

by admin

Overall, public transportation in Brazil has always been of low quality and, with rare exceptions, was never worthy of a positive evaluation from users.   The main reasons for this negative situation are the lack of planning and control on the part of city governments, who are responsible for implementing the systems, and the lack of a strategic vision and continuity on this issue by the federal government as it establishes public transportation policies. What are carbon credits and what is their importance in our lives?

by Luiz Fernando do Valle

The idea behind a carbon credit system was to try to compensate for the emission of greenhouse gases through a program that promotes policies that encourage countries to review their industrial processes in order to reduce atmospheric pollution and its impact on global warming. See entire post

Does a sustainable product cost more?

by Luiz Fernando do Valle

In the last few months people have been asking me that. People who interview or talk to me about sustainability want to know if sustainable developments cost more than traditional ones.

Actually the answer is not simple, it has to be explained.  And why is that? It is simply because the calculation must take into consideration aspects beyond the manufacturing costs. See entire post
